A chipped tooth is a common occurrence. You can chip a tooth when you bite down on something hard like hard candy or ice, or by getting hit in the mouth during an athletic event. Chipped teeth can also occur for other reasons, especially if the any area is decayed or has suffered other damage. Minor chips may not cause any pain, but if the damage extends deep enough to expose the nerve, you might feel pain, especially when you chew, or eat or drink something hot or cold. We are available and will work to get you the relief you need.
Even small chips need to be treated because they can lead to more serious damage or allow decay to develop in hard-to-reach areas. Until you can reach our office, you can try some first aid techniques for your chipped tooth. These can relieve discomfort and reduce the risk of infection or decay. First, rinse your mouth with warm water to flush the area. Then, apply gauze and pressure to stop any bleeding. If you are unable to reach our office right away, use a tooth repair kit to protect the sharp edge with dental cement. This is only a temporary option and is not designed for long-term repair of the tooth.
At your appointment, we will evaluate the injury and determine the best treatment based on the extent of the damage. A minor chip can often be repaired with enamel contouring. This is a procedure in which the chipped area is simply smoothed and polished. If the damage is too large to be contoured, you might need dental bonding, which is done using the same material as a tooth-colored filling. This resin matches the color of the tooth for aesthetic results, and it restores the look, size, shape, and function of the tooth.
If the chipped tooth has suffered more severe damage that extends deeper than the enamel layer, you will likely need a root canal. This treatment is used to remove the pulp, or soft tissues, inside the tooth. The tooth is then restored with a porcelain crown. Call our office today to learn more about restoring a chipped tooth or to schedule your appointment with our emergency dentist.

I've been going here since 2010 and I love this dental office! It's very convenient to my residence and they offer an array of services! I'm currently under Invisalign treatment and they gave me a great price! I highly recommend them for any of your dental needs!
I really like this dental office, dentists, and staff. The hygienist was very gentle and well mannered, she gave me tips on flossing and brushing properly, I highly recommend them to friends and family..

Now I Can Smile Again!
The dentist just made my front teeth/smile look like I had veneers implanted! She took away all my dark spots and heading without crowns and painful implants. It looks amazing! Thank You 🙂
The dentist was very kind + caring. Highly recommend! I only had a few days left on my dental insurance + she helped to prioritize my care + fit me in so that I could get issues taken care of in a pinch. The office manager, couldn't have been sweeter + she helped me to understand the sometimes tricky insurance pieces + actual prices I'd be paying before I made any decisions. A+ experience.
